The Dexamenes Experience: Yoga Between History and the Ionian Sea (October 2025)

In October 2025, our team returned for the fourth consecutive year to one of Greece’s most unique and architecturally stunning destinations: the Dexamenes Seaside Hotel in Kourouta. This three-day retreat (October 10–12) was a celebration of serenity, renewal, and connection with the sea, set within a space of deep history transformed into an aesthetic sanctuary.

The Practice: Yoga in Unique Spaces

What makes the Yoga experience at Dexamenes truly unique is the integration of the practice into the original architecture of the old winery:

• A Touch of History: Our morning practice and meditation took place in the imposing outdoor spaces among the old concrete wine tanks. The cool, minimalist walls and raw materials of the tanks create a backdrop for introspection and spiritual focus, lending a nearly ritualistic feel to the practice.

• Minimalism and Serenity: The simplicity of the architecture highlights the essence of Yoga, helping practitioners shed the unnecessary and focus entirely on breath and movement.

The Ionian Sunset: A Living Painting

The highlight of each day was the afternoon sessions, timed perfectly with the setting sun:

• Sea View: The practice took place against the backdrop of the Ionian Sea, right by the beach.

• Unique Light: As the sun went down, the Ionian light “painted” the sky with vibrant colors while participants completed their poses. The sea breeze and the sound of the waves accompanied the final relaxation (Savasana), offering a sense of profound peace that is rarely found.

The retreat at Dexamenes once again confirmed that the harmony between design, history, and nature can be the ideal catalyst for the total rejuvenation of body and spirit.
