A three-day yoga retreat took place between the 20th-22nd May 2016, in Aegina, in Hotel Irides. This Yoga Retreat really had a little bit of every season, due to the weather conditions. The earth is the fuel our bodies need to preserve. Water is the essence of our bodies, and through it, life is born. Breathing is Air, and undeniably essentially to preserve life. Finally, the earth and warmth of the Sun (fire) is life’s catalyst. All this during the 3-day yoga retreat which gave us strength to start our week.
On Friday, at 18:30 our journey began, with a breathing and relaxation class, to unwind and relax from the city’s fast pace. Two Hatha Yoga classes took place the next day, one in the morning and one in the evening. The most daring of us tried to do yoga on a Sup, and I call them daring due to the rain and clouds that were suffocating the sky on the day. On the last day we took a class which helped take care of old injuries with chronic pain. We smile often, thus preventing negative thoughts and making those around us as happy as we can. Two ladies, Angela – an 83-year-old lady who has been practicing Hatha Yoga for over 50 years and Elmina – a 75-year-old lady who comes from a Pilates background – were truly my inspiration during this Yoga Retreat. I wouldn’t have guessed their age, not even in a million years, confirming this way what I always say: When it comes to age it’s all about the quality, and not the quantity.
