When you visit the same place for a third consecutive time, you feel more confident. Ikaria, however, is full of surprises in a way that every year is very different from the previous one. Ikaria is an island that you will fall in love with, as long as you follow its rhythm.
Ikaria has it all. The landscape’s variations keep you alert and make you want to discover it from side to side, no matter how many times you choose to spend your holiday there. It is an island that calms your mind – mindfulness’ island. Every time you visit places you have visited before is like seeing them again for the first time. Magical. I do not know what ties me more to this place – its energy, the people, the music, the food, the mountain or the sea?
The most important thing about Ikaria is not to have heard about it, but to have experienced it.
What can I say about the people that choose to be my travel companions? Some come every year. Could it be that the lessons drive away anything negative and leave behind only positive feelings? Or that we discover all the points of our body, soul and minds?
During the week we spent on Ikaria (23-30 June 2018), we had the opportunity to practise in the morning and in the afternoon at one of the most beautiful outdoor halls in Greece, The EGG and in the evening enjoy the local, pure and vegetarian dishes from Stamatia. A yoga retreat is not just yoga. It is the group, the people who have shared many experiences in Seychelles, Karkinagri, Therma, Raches, in Christos Rachon and Pezi festivals and relaxing or practising yoga on SUP, on Mesakti’s beautiful beach.
We gathered pictures and memories and made a promise to meet again next year for either a 5 or 7 day stay on 22/06 until 29/06/2019.
