Reformer Pilates at Kouros Gym in Aegina Greece
Pilates offers both mental and physical training. By improving mind body awareness and focus, tension is released from the body & correct postural alignment is taught. Many people are looking for a gentler form of exercise that will build strength without adding bulk, improve flexibility and enhance appearance as well as performance – Pilates does just that! The Polestar Pilates Method trains the whole body, co-ordinating the upper & lower musculature with the body’s centre. For example, most exercises on the Reformer work a number of muscle groups at once in smooth, continuous movement, elongating at the same time as they strengthen and stretch. The result – muscles that are long and strong!
The Reformer is the most popular and versatile piece of Pilates equipment. In various positions on the carriage you send it gliding by either pushing on the foot bar or by pulling on the ropes. Progressive resistance is created when springs attached to the carriage are extended, this is what works the muscles, plus controlling the return of the carriage!
My name is Emma and I was classically trained in ballet jazz and contemporary dance. My qualifications include Dance Movement Therapist & Adult Education teacher. I began taking Pilates mat classes to compliment her dance work in 2000 and then went on to train with Polestar UK to teach this Pilates Method in 2007. I have continued my professional development by studying the Comprehensive Studio course with Polestar in London, becoming fully qualified in 2012.
For the last eight years I was based in Cornwall, England delivering classes and private tuition in mat & studio to a range of abilities, including those in rehabilitation from injuries and operations plus pre and post-natal women.
I now bring my passion and experience to Aegina and have the pleasure of putting my full Pilates studio in the brand new Kouros gym. I hope that you will join me there in discovering the benefits of this safe and effective exercise method.
