Aegina welcomed the 1st Yoga Marathon

The 1st Yoga Marathon at Aegina Marathon Beach was a one-day excursion (but not only that) organized by Yoga House (Athens) and Pure Fitness (Aegina) on Sunday, September 16, 2018,
For 3.5 hours, the three Yoga Instructors Christos Harikipoulos, Katerina Spyropoulou and Fotini Bitrou had the opportunity to open a spectrum of courses that followed a harmonious flow of Hatha Flow Yoga, Yoga Trance Dance and Restorative & Yoga Nidra in a specially designed outdoor room by the sea.

The twenty days that were needed to prepare this great summer event have given people who love yoga from Athens and Aegina the opportunity to complete the magnificent structure and enjoy a specially designed program.

All of the above practices were open to practitioners of all levels, with no serious injuries. At the end, participants and teachers together had the opportunity, after an intensive practice and relaxation, to swim in the sea, enjoy the sun and finally, before saying goodbye to the island, to participate in some of the Pistachio Festival’s events.
Katerina Spyropoulos wrote about her experience:
The way you experience each moment in your favorite place is strange. The way that the same place at different times is seen by ” different ” eyes – different but always your own eyes. After many consecutive summers, but not only summers, and holidays in Aegina I saw, felt and experienced the place quite differently during the marathon yoga in Marathon. The beach, the sand, the trees, the sea, the sun and the air became different. The air’s and the sea’s sound and coolness, became part of our practice and the sunlight, the contact with the earth, the sand, were the elements that made our movements different. I was able to feel the vibrations of the island and connect with its sanctity, with its history and the ancestral spirit, with Aphaia for the first time after so many years on the island. By teaching Yoga trans Dance I felt a whirlwind bringing all of us present to a state of a wider perception which is essentially this practice’s goal of. This is important because it is not easy and certainly the goal is not achieved in every practice. It is the space’s energy, the people who are experiencing the moment, the people who guide the practice as well as the organizers that work together in a magical way and finally reach the goal: Union, Expansion, Liberation. This is exactly what happened at the 1st Yoga Marathon in Aegina. I hope that it will continue, on the same beach, with Epidaurus, to sending us its “light” from the other side, with Fotini and Christos and our wonderful effortless bond and everyone who enjoyed it this year and the many who wanted to come but they didn’t make it . Yoga Marathon in the Aegina’s Marathon!
Everyone wished to meet again next year in the 2nd Yoga Marathon Aegina in September 2019.
