Why practice Yoga in New York

I lived in New York for 15 days, during Christmas 2017 – 2018, amid terrible weather, meeting with the “meteorological bomb”, as it was called, which swept through the northeastern states of the US (-12 °C to -7 °C).
Even so, it felt like I was the star of a Hollywood movie. It was my second visit and the first time that I saw the city with so much snow. So beautiful!

A trip that combined relaxing family moments with my husband, my 3,5 years old daughter and friends, with daily Yoga practice in Dharma Center , a yoga studio where Sri Dharma Mittra teaches, known to everyone engaged in Yoga, one of the 10 icons in Yoga history. Many experiences – my eyes received thousands of images and thousands of sounds invaded my ears every day from early morning.

I started my days with practice. Every time that I sat on the mat, the sukhasana I felt that I was liberated from anything negative that I was carrying. During the lesson, with discipline in the silence of the mind but also in the silence of the body, Sri Dharma emptied us from anything negative filling us with positive energy. The exercises demanded a trained mind & body and were given constantly and with such a succession that you reached a point feeling that you gave everything, feeling healthier than ever, letting time pass so quickly that you didn’t’ t want to leave.
I remember him saying “I don’t understand why people are suffering when there is meditation. If everyone can understand that they are living now and not tomorrow, then that will be a conquest in their passage from this life.”
Every day is a different one, live and put Yoga in your life – it will guide you in beautiful paths that you never thought that existed. Follow it in whatever stage you think you are. I am waiting for you…and who knows, maybe next time I will bring you with me. As long as we breathe, walk, talk, listen, anything can happen. Take care of the most precious thing you have: yourself.
2018 awaits us
